Cagiva 190 WRX Throttle Cable Cover

Whilst away with work I got chatting to one of our colleagues who mentioned that they were searching for a new throttle cable cover for their motorbike. They could find used throttle cable guides, but all of the photos and units he could see online all had the same issue that had occurred to his – the plastic cover had snapped where people have overtightened the centre securing bolt. Having recently had some of my 939 flap motor gears made from sintered aluminium, I mentioned to him that I wouldn’t mind giving it a go, so long that he could give me the cable guide body itself to model from.

After just shy of half an hour of measuring and modelling, an hour of print time, and we had a usable first version. With a couple of photos sent over, I made some changes to prevent the centre bolt being overtightened in future by designing a built-in spacer to limit the vertical movement of the centre of the cap whilst the outside cupped the locating lip on the main body. Don’t get me wrong; it wasn’t a hard part to mock up or model, but it’s always pleasant to be able to provide solutions to parts which aren’t available anymore (and we’re talking a bike getting on for 40 years old at this point!).
