This is a replacement for the oil temperature sensor that lives within the sump of the 3.2JTS Alfa Romeo engines installed within the Type 939 series (Alfa 159, Brera, Spider). The sensor is plug and play with the existing connections of the car. This does not require removal of the engine/sump as the official method of replacement otherwise would, however does require you to remove the sump plug so swapping when an oil change is due is recommended. The entire system is mounted on a custom-built PCB and utilises terminals for connections to/from the car. A custom manufactured sump plug is included which will need to be installed in place of the original sump plug on the vehicle. The control box is housed within a 3D printed chassis which mounts nicely on the fuse box within the engine bay. The chassis offers suitable protection to the internal components in all driving conditions; utilising the location on the fuse box lid and the bonnet itself as the main ingress protection.
What Comes In The Box
The installation kit includes the control box and associated loom cabling, the custom sump plug, and the 12V fuse additions to the vehicle. No tools are included within the kit, and installation of the replacement oil temperature sensor would typically be done at the same time as the service of the vehicle to save on time. The replacement sensor requires the OEM wiring loom for the oil temperature sensor is in-tact and functional, with the oil temperature sensor being faulty.
Installation
Please note that whilst this is a plug and play replacement for the original sensor; some basic technical knowledge and limited toolset is required to complete the installation correctly. Installation instructions will be sent through digitally at point-of-dispatch. If you are not confident to install this yourself, forward the installation instructions over to your relevant car servicing engineer. The Rev1 Sensor removes the functionality of the Oil Level Sensor unless the loom retainment option is selected, please see Oil Temperature Sensor for reference. Also note that these are made to order so a delay is to be expected regardless of stock status shown; typically 2 weeks.

Installed on my 2006 Brera 3.2 v6, the kit is easy to fit, “invisible” when fitted and built sturdy. I highly recommend it to everyone who doesn’t want to drop the oil pan (requires dropping of subframe) to replace the original -expensive- oil sensor.

A fantastic solution to the common issue of the failing oil temperature sensor in the Alfa JTS engines. Very straight forward to fit in my 3.2 159, and just simply works. I opted to retain the oil level sensor, which also works great, and adds nothing to the installation.

C’est excellent ! Enfin une solution de remplacement facile à mettre en œuvre, discrète et qui marche ! George est hyper disponible par mail, en anglais « off course », mais le kit est facile à mettre en œuvre ! Aucun mécano n’intervient en France avec moins de 10h00 de moe pour changer cette satanée sonde, donc solution vraiment incroyable !
C’est tellement frustrant sur cette belle planche de bord de voir cette aiguille ne pas fonctionner ! Encore chapeau pour avoir conçu ce module et cette sonde !
